Having played the dieting game for over thirty decades, I’ve learned that it’s not dieting that’s going to get me places, but it’s a change in lifestyle.
I’ve also learned that after menopause, it’s even more than that. What used to work, no longer does. I can speedwalk (because running has never been my thing), do core exercises, resistance bands, weight training, and the tire sits on my belly and the thighs continue to slap.
A trip to an endocrinologist confirmed my suspicions. The lump on my thyroid had tripled. While I’m still in the dizzying cycle of tests and waiting for six months to see what happens with my crazy little goiter (rest assured, I’m in very capable hands and am well versed in medical protocol), it’s damn the torpedos, full steam ahead.
Returning to the plan that worked the absolute best in shredding the pounds and getting me toned, I’m tweaking it to realize the sluggishness of my metabolism.
